Toothy Grin

I've been trying to work out what to do with this photo for a little while and thought that I would use it in the Sarahs Cards monthly challenge. The challenge is to use some paint, so I used acrylic paint for the border and the title. The papers are from DCWV green stack (still got lots left :)) and K and Co Wild Saffron - which the red frame is made from. I used my Martha Stewart double loop punch. The sparkly star came off a Christmas card, but the blue was just perfect :). I did quite a bit of doodling and edging with sound poundland markers to make the different elements stand out and keep the LO feeling fun. I like the photo as it is one of those moments in time we all go through where you end up with gaps and some enormous adult teeth and tiny baby teeth! There are some more close ups of some of the different elements below, thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW

So not much on my work desk today, so I wasn't sure I was going to be able to post....wasn't creative last night! Then the postman called....and I got my new stash - a little treat to myself as I have just started working. So here is a shot of all my goodies - except for the prima lace which is in the shot above....

The whole lot....lots of paper

Pastel and primary coloured woodware buttons, all sorted into contact lense cases a friend gave me :) Lots of nice and interesting buttons so really pleased with those.

Jillibean soup Old World Cabbage Stew, couldn't resist the birdhouses and I love the colours

October Afternoon fly a kite - never used October Afternoon before but loved these summery colours

A few of the cosmo cricket garden variety.
I also got some tape and bazzil to match, and some prima swirls will be winging their way to me soon. So excited about doing some scrapping, and I only showed you one side of the papers :) Must get some more photos taken and printed.
Thanks for coming to have a look around my craft area.

Which way?

This is my LO for the Ukscrappers weekly challenge set by my teamie Winnie. I had to have a non-uniform page, use bright colours and something oversized. These are some shots from the maze at Knebworth House which my kids really enjoyed, so I tried to shape the cardstock a little bit like a hedge and inked the edges (if I could have got it all through the swirl folder on my cuttlebug I would have :)) The papers are a mixture of MME Quite contrary, K and Co wild saffrom and DCWV card stock. I had some felt ribbon that I picked up in one of those bargain shops so I cut it in half to edge the photos, inked all the edges. I stamped the title with some alpha stamps from costco. To bring the red more into my picture I used my big bite to cut some holes in the cardstock on some wiggley lines I had drawn and backed it with the red paper, then I edged the holes with some more stickle dots....I enjoyed that from my last LO. There is a button and then a chipstock button which I inked and had played with some rock candy on, some remaining sections of prima swirls and then a Tim Holtz ticket. Think that is all the bits - no flowers on this one :) It was a great day out and I would recommend Knebworth for anyone with small kids....or anyone really....TFL

Strike a Pose

This is the LO inbetween all those inks and bits of papers on my desk! Thanks to all the WOYWWers who have left comments. This is for the Ukscrappers Week 3 challenge so I had to use a sketch, some ribbon and flowers. The papers are mostly cosmo cricket earth love, the orange one I stamped up with brown dots, as I like the orange/purple combination :) I ruffled all the edges of the papers, and added some circles using my rolls of double sided tape and clear, blue and green stickles dots. I made a pin wheel which had caught my eye on the scrappy days blog as a good alternative flower embellishment. The alphabet I hand wrote part, and the rest are papermania cardstock stickers. These are some shots from the park on a nice sunny day like today where my DS is enjoying posing with his sun glasses - he does make me laugh sometimes :)

WOYWW

The first time I have had a go at this, and only a quick post as I have to dash to work soon. However my desk is a mess.....covered in distress inks, and the LO that I have just finished and will post later on. It is based on this weeks UKscrappers challenge...so the devistation left is stickles, cosmo cricket papers, ribbons... My work space at the moment is our dining room table so most of my stuff is in boxes and bags and I have to ship it all in from our computer area! :)

Cousins

After looking at my Prima Flights of Fancy papers....I finally decided to use them. My kids chose the picture that they wanted me to use and so this is what I came up with. In with the flights of fancy there is some K and Co and a pink sheet I got in a pack from poundland! I used some of the edging of a costco kit to cut the shaped paper out, then inked and scrumpled it. The folded paper strip is a co-ordinating poundland paper sticker that I inked too. I made some of the 6 petal roses in 2 different sizes, added a prima e-line swirl and some other bits and pieces. I picked up the idea of inking around some of the butterflies of Gabrielle Pollacco, and used my tattered rose distress ink to do that, also inked the edge of my lace too, so got quite messy, and glittered in the butterflies and on the flowers. Here are some close ups.

Pure Joy

This is one of my favourite photos - love the smiles and the colours, can't take credit for it though - it was my DH artwork. This is the 2nd LO I managed to get mostly done on my craft day. I used DCWV cardstock and then the papers are K and Co wild saffron (I had a dig around in my old stash and found it!). I misted it with my homemade glimmers using the fire brick distress ink and perfect pearls, then stamped around the edge with the distress ink and my dotty stamp. The punch I used is marth stewart double loop, not sure where the ribbons are from! The play ticket is Tim Holtzs, and the alpha is again a poundshop purchase and the stamps from my costco kit. Tried to keep it bright and colourful to reflect the fun and happiness of the photo!

Kew Gardens

We had a paper craft get together yesturday in a local hall and I managed 2 LOs in between all the tea and chatting. I had a bit more of a play with my Tim Holtz shabby flowers die and the flourish - layered and curled and inked the flowers. The card stock is a mixture of DCWV green stack for the backgrounds, Basic Grey wisteria for the purple pieces, and then coordinations gem lilac cardstock. Bit of poundland bling and their foam letters, and Urban Lily journal stamp, martha stewart butterflies and then letter stamps that I got in a costco kit. This is a shot of our trip to Kew Gardens last summer - which is just a beautiful place to visit on a sunny day with a picnic!

More flowers - roses and Tim Holtz blooms

I tried to find my pdf for the roses that I made at the UKS cybercrop.....but couldn't so I have done a little tutorial. The class was by Pam Thorburn (Wombat).

You need a pencil, some tape, scissors and your paper, cut out a circle - for this one I used the inside of my double sided tape role...but you can make them any size.

Draw a swirl as below onto your circle

Then you need to cut along your lines

To create the rose you need to fold a crease down the middle of the swirl, I bend the sides of the strip over my finger and work my way around - dosen't need to be perfect.

Bend the edges of the swirl down until you get to the middle (circle) - this middle section will be the base for your rose

To get the rose you need to start rolling up the swirl starting from the outside, (you roll the swirl the other way).

The trickier bit - once you have got to the centre of the swirl (the part that is going to be the base for the rose) you need a couple of bits of tape/glue (I only put the glue/tape on at this part as if it is sticky before hand then rolling the rose becomes harder).

Once you have pealed of the tapes then stick the rose on to it, and you can adjust and trim of any bits and you should end up with this

It isn't the easiest flower to make, but I think it is really pretty and with practise it definately gets easier.
I also got a couple of new purchases this week, the Tim Holtz flower and butterfly dies, which are great. Here is a flower I made - I stamped up the paper with a script stamp, curled and inked the edges and popped a button in the middle.

I will post a butterfly too at some point by my youngest is doing stain glass windows in school and the butterfly wings look like that so, they had to take it in :)

A family is a patchwork of love - Charlotte

I will take a better picture of this LO in the morning light...as it is all blue at the moment :)

I got some Tim Holtz masks and was trying to work out the best way to use it and encorporate it into a LO, and so the idea for this one was born. I used tattered rose and his swirl mask and inked it all. The papers are DCWV luxury stack, I also got a TH alterations flourish die. I made the flowers with a folded rose technique I learnt from a ukscrappers cybercrop - I will try and find a link and post it or pop it on my side bar. They are a little bit fiddley to keep together but look nice, used some prima e-line flowers that I inked too and piled them all together. The picture is of me and my new niece - she was born 5 weeks early so was very tiny but absolutely beautiful! Also being a mum of boys this LO is unashamedly pink...thought I should make the most of the opportunity :)
