It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

I've been making some Christmas decorations with some cardboard stars from Baker Ross.  For my first one I covered it in white paint, and then gold down the creases, and blinged it up with some pearls - it was nice because they come in all different sizes, I did have to stick them on with a glue gun as I want them to stay stuck and put up with my kids manhandling them to put them on the tree!

My next star I deco paged with old dictionary paper, and then wrapped it in twine and added a wood veneer snowflake with a gem in the centre.

My next star - just painted white, and then I added stripes of the red really sticky double sided tape and sprinkled on gold glitter.

For my next one I added gold gelatos over the paint and then added some dictionary paper and some punched shapes.

For this star I tried using a mask to add a little more texture and then used mists and gelatos and ink flicks - it has a nice shimmer with all the mica on it!  I then hung a little wooden star (made by prima) from the bottom.

For my final star, again white base, then some gold paint on top, some strings of sequins and gauze and then some Christmas papers for the centre.

Mini Book - Travelling Goods

This is incredibly photo heavy...but here is the mini book that I made with the new travel collection by Graphic 45 - Come Away with Me.  It is based on a book that Jane Hewitt made at a Christmas Retreat - that one was pop up....mine isn't that adventurous!

Added in are doilies and chipboard with some prima flowers.

Some punched lines and banners

I added in a little pocket, and a pocket page for a couple of tags

and also found some pink ribbon that co-ordinated.

More photos and twine, and some gorgeous Websters lace

Another little pocket and more journalling

At the moment the book is just sat on my mantelpiece so people can have a flick through.

Giant Chess with th Elevator

Our main purpose here at IE is to challenge ourselves, each other and YOU to take the creative process to the next level;  to inspire growth and change in our scrapbooking beyond the mundane.
You can see all of Inspiration Elevator's previous challenges at on Facebook .

This month's challenge is issued by me! It is a warm seasonal challenge for you, and as a Brit...to do with the weather! Here is what I told the rest of the team:

" 'cos Autumn is all about layers of leaves and layers of jumpers (in the northern hemisphere) I would like to challenge you to add lots of layers to your page....this could be layers of paints, inks, stamps, papers, glassine paper, acetate....lots of lovely layers."

I started my page with an old chipboard alphabet which I then coated in gesso, once that was dry I added some Tim Holtz silver spray ink, then dried it, then some stamps....then lots of layers of Simple Stories Legacy papers, inked and distressed and a layer of gauze and a glassine envelope ready for the journalling.  Just an everyday shot of the kids playing....but I used all the letters in the background because we were at Bletchley Park which was the home of the code breakers from the second world war, so all the letters seemed very fitting.  I used lots of the lovely embellishments that come with the Simple Stories papers (these are the papers I chose for this months gallery over at A Trip Down Memory Lane...I love them, so there will be lots more pages too!).

Onto lots more lovely inspiration...you are starting with me - so please follow on and see what Lisa has created - here is a full list incase you get lost.

 Katherine Sutton (you are here)
Why not give the challenge a try yourself? Then pop by our Facebook page and share with us what you created! I would love to see your creations.

Lake Love

A little more summer with some more Something Wonderful by Teresa Collins, and this is a scrap lift from a TwoPeas page I have pinned by Steffie248.  I loved the 2 chevrons and stitched those, then I layered up a mix of papers behind, and added lots of stickers, a brad and some little wood veneer stars - I love scattering them!

This weekend A Trip Down Memory Lane are having another cybercrop - most of the kits are gone, but you can still play along with your own papers and come and join in the chatter on Facebook.  There will be more Saturday crops and kits in the new year so do keep an eye out - here is a link to the Facebook group ATDML# Create.

Jump

As the weather gets colder.....some summer holiday pages!!!  I'm still using pockets and single pages for a running holiday style album, and incorporated the Teresa Collins papers (in my kit from ATDML) - Something Wonderful...I love them...all the triangles!

I went with a couple of circles....all hand cut - just dug out my compass and then arranged them and offset them on my paper.  I added some gauze - I love the extra layer and texture and you can see through it, then my favourite triangle designed paper which I popped my 2 photos on.  Lots of embellishing with stickers, and mini triangles and some of the brads - I am loving all the new brads that come with the ranges, filled with glossy enamels and then extra paper embellishments too.

Good Times

Now I don't tend to have lots of photos with my husband....but here is a lovely one from our summer holiday (I think we mostly don't have photos of us together as normally we are the ones doing the photos!).  We were up in the alps and at the Aguille du Midi - amazing scenery.

I made this with Teresa Collins' Daily Stories papers - part of the September Gallery over at ATDML if you want some more inspiration.  One of the papers was full of tags so I went for a grid/tag layout, and there are lots of bits you can cut out in this collection - like the speech bubbles and banners.  I layered up my tags - I'm loving thread in circles at the moment, and used some doilies, wood veneers, inked and distressed all the edges (and a little strand of sparkly sequins courtesy of a Baker Ross pack)....and this was the result!
