Sea Love

Here is another of the pages I did at Scrapmates.  I'd picked up a pack of MME Cut and Paste papers from Home Sense and they came with all sorts of lovely stickers and chipboard so I decided to dig into them.  I started the page with a wash of silver distress stain, and then layered up lots of papers - I found my bag of lovely left overs from the last ATDML retreat so dipped into there to use some of the Crate Paper Pretty Party and Craft Market stickers and papers.  There is also another one of the Simple Stories frames - love those, and a prima bark heart (I like that you get to different sides with these and I went for the back which is that gorgeous golden brown).  I cut out the arrow stickers as they were all on one sticker.  Added some of the MME enamel shapes and a little chipboard mason jar.

More summer photos - I will probably have an album full of body-boarding pictures as that is where the kids spent most of their time when we were at the beach!

My class for Scrapmates

So I showed you Ann's class last time, here is my class using We are Family by Simple Stories.  Both the pages use a 6 by 6 pad, so for the first one we cut lots of triangles and then added some of the smaller  details in the papers.  I love the colours and the quotes in this range.

I used a shot from the Summer holidays when we went to visit my husbands parents in Cornwall.

For the next page I used a bit of mist - from Marion Smiths color lab - I still love this product as you can make so many colours from the powders (it is a little messy) but having had it for over a year now the mists still all work and there is no gunking issue with the sprays, I don't need to clean them out, and they have a handy lock so when you transfer them around you can look the plunger so it won't go down and spritz anything you don't want it to. This is my favourite colour which just use the basic blue in the kit and a little bit of sparkle.

Scrap mates with Ann

It was Scrapmates 10th anniversary last weekend and we had 2 paper packs to play with - here are the pages that Ann created for us.  I was meant to use less gold ink, but you know when you use an unfamiliar spray....and anyway I added a bit more gold when I got home!!  The papers were by MME and have some lovely foiling.  The first page had the misting and we stamped the scroll leaves, lots of layering and some beautiful golden washi tape too.  The photo is from France and our visit to Puy du Foy with a quick ice-cream stop on the way.

This was the 2nd page, I love grid designs and we had a beautiful foil heart to stick on the cardstock too.  Lots of layering and cutting.  The photo is from Blenheim palace where they have an amazing maze that the kids loved!

Naturals by Baker Ross

I was sent a box of with some of the Naturals Range from Baker Ross, packed with pine cones, wreaths, gems, sticks and shells so I had a play and these are some of the projects I came up with.  For the pine cone wreath I used one of their corrugated card bases and then glue gunned lots of pine cones on, after this I added some of the gem stones and then some natural twine.  The final addition were some fabric flowers to make the perfect Autumnal wreath.

I was sent lots of large shells which make lovely packaging for soaps or little pieces of jewellery but I decided to have a go at making my own wind chime.  I stuck and bound some of the natural sticks together and then added some lengths of the natural twine and stuck the shells on at different points.  It makes a really nice outdoors wind chime.

My final project was with the sticks.  I have a stick frame from HomeSense and I could have made something similar, instead I used a glass jar and stuck the sticks around the outside.  I then added some gold ribbon - ready for Christmas and added one of the battery operated candles in the middle.

Home Sweet Home Mini Album

Last months kit from A Trip Down Memory Lane included lots of Graphic 45 and one of my favourite Graphic 45 papers of late - the hexagon patchwork - I love the bright colours and patterns on it.  I decided to make a mini book for my Aunt and Uncles 50th Wedding Anniversary as a gift.  The book is based on Gloria Stengels instructions but I changed it very slightly so that both ends of the book are the same size, so it is a cuboid book, rather than a book that gets narrower at one end if that makes sense.  I use cereal boxes for the covers and spine and then yardstick for the pages.  There are a few other Graphic 45 papers in there, and they blend well as Graphic 45 use the same colour base for their paper ranges so there is no problems matching them if they are in the same colour group.
Here is the first page with a small pocket on the left and larger one on the right, as well as one of the little pull out pockets that Graphic 45 do.
This page has an open out flap, and then the other a strip so you can slide a photo underneath, or memorabilia.
 This is the opened flap.
The next page has a low pocket and journal spot, and on the authorised is another lift the flat section.
This can be used for photos and journalling.
Then the pattern for my pages starts to repeat, just with different papers, a low and high pocket.
I tucked the apple pie recipe in too.
Another open out flap and a corner to slide photos and memorabilia into.
A low pocket and then a high pocket, with a pocket behind the journal card too.
The final page has a lovely quote and I left the back cover blank so that a photo could be added.
This is the view from the top so you can see both spines are the same length, and the book is secured with a little clip.  There is lots of room for more decoration and photos.
