Winter Wonderland Double Page with Simple Stories

After a beautiful covering go snow this winter I have lots of pictures so decided to have a go at a double page spread, which is something that I don't do too often.  I've used Winter Wonderland by Simple Stories which was in my DT kit from A Trip Down Memory Lane.  I love the way that you can put a Simple Stories page together fairly quickly with all the cards and elements in their collections.

I started this page with co-ordinating strips at each side and then had my photos track across the middle.  I decided to mount them on a rust coloured yardstick (not something I normally do) as it went so well with the colours in the papers and as the photos were white it made them pop a little more.  Once my photos were on I had fun with clusters of embellishments and some of the little word stickers in this collection.

Here are some close-ups.

I love the little snowmen, and sticking to that cluster of 3 rule that seems to work so well!

I love the cards in this collection and this one was perfect for the title.

Here you can see one of the word stickers which are lovely for adding a little bit more information to the photos.

I've also created a wintry video for BoBunny which you can find here.

Today I choose Happiness with BoBunny

BoBunny have created these new chipboard frames, they are perfect for altering and I teamed it with the lovely Penelope collection.  I used lots of layers of pentart acrylic paint and also the crackle medium, I then went over the top with some silver wax - and the laser cut butterflies are covered in silver wax.
I carefully cut out the flowers, inked the edges and then curled the petals adding a gem to the middle. I cut the main phrase out of the elements paper in this kit and then mounted it on some different layers of paper.  I added a little bird cage - one of the new wood veneer elements, in the corner.

You can see the curves on the flower petals, I just cut into them a little bit and shaped them with my hands.

Just a little bit of silver wax on the laser cut butterflies completely transforms them.

Here you can see the crackle medium at  work.  If you would like more details please have a look here
