Happiness is

Having made the flowers I then needed to use them on a project so this is for the Sarahs Card Challenge to use old stash. Here are some of my old K and Co Wild Saffron papers, I think this is one of the first packs I bought. You can find the link to the flower tutorial in my previous post - I made some leaves for them which I distressed and drew stems on for the background. I cut the swirls out of a wild saffron sheet and then added ranger pearls to make the pearls on them, I inked and scrunched all the edges added a little sepia accents on one piece, cut out glittered and decoupaged butterflies. The alphabet is fancy pants - from the cuttlebug and I used some alpha stamps too.

This another Wimbledon LO - and is called happiness because it was a lovely warm day, it was a day out with my husband with an M and S packup and some world class tennis - it was great :)

Flowers

I decided to make some flowers from a tutorial on such a pretty mess blog I made this one using co-ordinations paper, so no inking but lots of tearing. However my tearing wasn't that great so I tried it cutting the paper and inking around the edges and came up with these flowers.

I also had a go at a tutorial from here which is in German, but you use circles of organza and then melt the edges - there are 2 similar colours in there and then I used a small flower punch and a brad to make them look like poppies. You can use other fabrics like tulle and they curl similarily.

Hope that might inspire some of you to have a go! :)

Wimbledon

Stilling scrapping bits for my album from last year. This one is done using cosmo crickets earth love papers, my DH often criticizes my pages for not having many photos on them....so this one he liked :) Lots of shots that I cut out 2 by 2 and inked around the edges. I made some panels of paper too, and cuttlebugged a few with swiss dots, and then made some tennis appropriate embellishments! I also made one of the papers open up to show the journalling and sewed a button on the front and made a little hook of thread to wrap around it. Made another flower using the six petal punch tutorial, scrumpled the bird paper band by misting it with water 1st, and attached some lace to it. I wrinkled a lot of edges with ink and just going around the page pulling the paper up. The title is the cuttlebug fancy pants alphabet. Hopefully all the colours exude the warmth that was on that day - one of the hottest wimbledon's we have been to and it was great to see Federer in action and see Murray - both of them played really well and won in straight sets - it was a great day out.

Party

My LO of my DSs last birthday where we went to a science museum type place. Tried to keep it really boyish - no flowers! Bright colours! Had a go at making one of the trendy banners, as that seemed appropriate for this celebration LO - I put some on foam pads and some flat to add some dimension. Using DCWV cardstock and the green stack. I tried out a technique of making an uneven scallop border where you trace around heart shapes - I then edged it with a black pen and doodled it to make it stand out. The cogs, robot, rocket are all sizzix dies, and the alphabet is sizzix stencil. So lots of colour!

Expressions

A bit brighter than my previous beachy LOs, and experimented with a few new things that I have done before. Been wanting to try the bubble wrap print, so there is it up the top of the page, and the curly arrow is grunge board - I had seen a technique where you rub a wax crayon over it 1st (in this case yellow), then paint it, and once the paint is dry rub it off - so it makes quite a worn effect and I inked it a little too, to try and bring out the texture a little more. The alphabet is oliva for the cuttlebug and I had painted up some corrugated card board and cut that out. To make the yellow paper strip about the black lace I soaked some paper and scrumpled and folded it to the size that I wanted, then lots of layering and a few embellishments and journalling. The papers are all DCWV and most of them the green stack.

This shows the crumpled paper strip

shows the bubble wrap print and some of the journaling - I outlined it to make it stand out.

Picture Perfect

Not been full of inspiration this week, though I had a few techniques I wanted to try out! I made the background cardboard shape from a pizza box, someone had suggested damping down the cardboard so you can pull the layer off, and this worked really well - just used a spray a couple of times and managed to get most of the top layer off easily. I then painted and inked the edges of it to bring our the pattern. I also cut the title out of cardboard painted, and that is the olivia cuttlebug alphabet. I used some glossy accents on the paper but that dosen't show much and added some glitter in patches around the cardboard. So layered and roughed up the papers, used some distress inks to make the tag and attached that. I made the flowers from the 6 petal tutorial - but this was using a larger punch - it was about 2 inches, worked well though I had to squash them lots as they became a little too 3D! I used sepia accents and stickles on them, then some prima pearls behind. I threaded some more pearls on the tulle wrapped around the flowers and stuck it down the best I could. I am putting it in for the ukscrappers challenge this week to use old stock, make an embellishment and use some fabric!

House Challenge - Beach Buddies

This is my entry for the ukscrappers house challenge to scraplift and to do a layout involving friends. So the scraplift is from http://mycreativescrapbook.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=1777. I used some costco papers (yellow) and DCWV cardstock, the rest is from the basic grey wisteria collection. I made a template to cut out the large shapes, inked and ruffled the edges and layered them up. Cut some smaller bits of paper and inked them - used weathered wood distress ink and a brown pad, then used the deep cut fan martha stewart punch for the purple paper edge and added some lace to the top. On ukscrappers there have tutorials about making organza flowers, these are made out of thule which does melt a lot quicker and crinkles more, but it is the same theory. Then bits of paper flowers I had in my stash. The chipboard is from a brenda pinnick set and the little letters from a K and Co kit - lots of inking and distressing and ruffling! I will try and get a link for the flowers on my side bar, and there is a link already on there for ruffled edges.

The photo is another beautiful one taken by my DH on on our holidays which we mostly spend with our friends pictured here on the beach with our kids and one of theirs. It is great to have friends that you get on really well on holiday with, and where your kids just disappear and play happily with theirs whilst you chat and relax!
