Jet Ski

Here is the page that I made for the sketch challenge over at ATDML's cybercrop - there is still time to enter and the sketch is fantastic.  I used Websters Pages Sunday Picnic line, which I was sent to have a play with for June's gallery over at ATDML...and figured since I was in the photos I could use pink on the page :)  I love the bright swathes of colour in these papers.

I started by stitching a circle (lightly drew around a plate with pencil and then stitched, then rubbed the marks out.  I then added a square of striped paper behind the photos and 2 strips of punched paper (the punch is one of my favourites - Martha Stewarts Doily edge lace) and unusually I dug out my paper ribbler (crimper).....yes you didn't think you would see one again, but I love the subtle texture it adds.  I had a go at some triangular arrows as triangles seem to be everywhere at the moment, made a few banners, and then hand stitched some hanging buttons.  To keep with the theme I journalled following the edge of the circle, and of course added some splatters of cosmic shimmer and glimmer mist in orange and blue.

The photos are from one of our numerous trips to legoland, and I'm not sure what the ride is called but it is like a jet ski on an arm and you steer your ski in to the centre and then just let go and it pulls you to the outside as you go around and around.  As you can see from the photos my eldest is loving it, whereas my youngest has he hands firmly clamped over his ears...tho apparently he did enjoy it.

The Egg Hunt

Here is the page that I created for the A Trip Down Memory Lane Cyber crop this weekend.  You can download the instructions for this class here.  There are loads of other classes too all listed on the blog from mini albums to pages and lots of challenges too, it's not too late to take part at all and you can pick up the classes whenever you want.

My page uses some of the lovely October Afternoon Farmhouse collection, I love the vintage feel of it and it went well with the photo as this was at a national trust property.  When we went their they were doing an egg hunt and you had to find all the rabbits and then you got a chocolate egg at the end.  Well us adults were gently strolling around the gardens (holding the kids up in their search) and I did try to catch some photos - but most of them look like this as once you've stopped briefly to find one rabbit you then have to run to the next - just makes me laugh it was a great day out and the kids loved it.

Back to the papers - there is lots of inking, a little cutting and stitching and crumpling involved - I had a go at the triangle trend that is going on at the moment too hence the triangles, and I still love some bunting so the doily bunting paper from OA was perfect for cutting.  Behind the photo is the pocket for my journal card which documents the story, and as always my pages just don't look right with out some drips of paint :)

The Puffle Story

The A Trip Down Memory Lane Cybercrop is underway, and here  is my page for  the 1st challenge, which is to use your stamps on a page.  I used a swirl set of stamps by Autumn Leaves and stamped some circles in 3 different colour inks.  I started the page by actually having a play with my silhouette and created the circle shape pattern as I don't have a cameo I had to  cut it in half and add it to either side of the photo.  I then stamped up some of the negatives and slotted them in to a few of the circles.  I used Crate Papers Farmhouse collection for this page, and layered up some strips of the green and blue papers behind the photo (all inked and stitched of course) them added some of the sticker strips and a doily chipboard piece.  For the delightful sticker I layered it on 2 papers and just cut around the edge with my pinking shears.  I added some flicks of mist and then use Fancy Pants and Cosmo Cricket stickers for the title.

There is a pocket behind the photo for the journalling tag which is all about this orange piffle.  Puffles are in club penguin and that is about all I know about them, my son got one for Christmas and it was an instant hit.  When we were out for the day visiting a national trust property he accidentally left it in a bush in his cardigan pocket, we only realised this as we got home (some 40 mins) from the property.  My son was quite upset so the next day without much hope I phoned the property and to our delight someone had handed the cardigan with the puffle still in the pocket, so we went back to collect primarily the puffle, not the carry :)

A Trip Down Memory Lane - Cybercrop

Giggle

This is my page for the challenge over on the studio blog to use negatives.  For the negative part I die cut some butterflies out of a tag, the rest of the inspiration was because we have some of the JBS team joining us so I dug out some of my JBS goodies to play with and make a vintage feel page.

I started with the photo of my Mum, it was from a lithograph. I scanned it in, did some editing and it came out really well, I was surprised how good the quality was.  The page started with some scrapes of white gesso and then yellow bubble print, the red bits are from some embossing powder that I sprinkled across it too.  I layered up glassine envelopes, papers and a doily, added lots of stitching and inked and distressed it all.   On the butterfly tag I had another go at free stitching with the foot of the machine off to make the swirls, I am still perfecting it but it is great fun.  I added a maya road kraft doily and some JBS milk top buttons with a Tim Holtz ticket, the alphabet is paper mania....and I stitched it across the photo (I did take sometime considering whether it would be ok to stitch across the edge of a photo, but I really liked it and it was only a copy).

Fathers Day and a Birthday Card

Here are a couple of cards that I did for Fathers day, the 1st was using October Afternoons Farmhouse collection and the lovely silhouette stamp that they have.  I layered up lots of offcuts of paper (which you can see with the 2 little punched hearts that went on a LO I did), there are also a few echo park stickers in there too.  I had a go at making some fringe like in the bazzil packs but mine is out of an old dictionary which I stitched.

This is the card I made for my Dad using some of my favourite Amy Tangerine stamps and papers.  I tried to keep it colourful and added lots of layers.

Finally a birthday card, again using up all my offcuts and the AC Chaps and Amy Tangerine stamps - I also made my own little cup cake out of some of the strips of paper.

So managed to get all my cards done ready for the weekend, and wishing all the Dads out there a great Fathers day.

Treasure these moments

I created this page for my little feature on scrapbooking trends over at A trip Down Memory Lanes' blog, it also meant I had a bit of a play with my silhouette as the hexagon pattern came free with it.  I am still loving hexagons they've featured quite a lot on my pages, and there are still lots of things you could do with them to change it all around.  I had another go at welding some different fonts together to make the title (tho in retrospect making them a little thicker would have made it easier to detach them from the carrier sheet unbroken).  I used some gesso - I just like white on craft at the moment, and the arrow stamp is from american crafts chaps range, a bit of stitching and distressing around each of the papers and some splatters of ink too (the description makes it sound so quick to put together! it's quicker when you look back and don't have all the deciding time about where the paper looks best isn't it :))

The photo is my DS with his new cousin, who he still adores especially as he can make him smile now.  Don't laugh to much by one of members at staff at school who knows my kids and my nephew well, asked my youngest about his new cousin and what he was like....and the comment was 'well he sleeps a lot' and that was about it - needless to say he kept waking up his parents in the night so he doesn't sleep that much!

I've got lots of cards for birthdays and Fathers Day to be making so I should be back with some cards later on in the week, still catching up on everything and visiting everyones blogs after a very windy holiday last week, which you will also see pictures of too when I have scrapped them.

2012 Marathon

We went to the London Marathon this year to support 2 friends running it.  We painted a yellow banner the day before, got up early made packed lunches and headed into London.  We saw them both around Canada Water and then again alongside the river Thames near Horse Guard Parade - it was a great day (we were quite exhausted from dashing across London with the kids- tho you can't say anything to people that have just run 26 miles :)).  It was a great day with huge crowds of people, live music and lots of cheering.

I decided to have a go at using a map as a background (I do wonder about my choice as other people seem to work the map background a lot better than me and I think mine is a bit too busy).  The paper is pink paislee.  I then used some of the portrait line by Crate Paper to pick up the yellow and red in the banner, I layered up lots of die cuts and doilies and added bits of guess.  I used my negative strip to thread twine through and added some vintage buttons.  So another quite messy painty page from me, but a good use up of some of my older bits of papers.

Ready to Explore

Over at the Studio blog this month the challenge is to use vintage things on your page, and we have been joined by some of the Queens of Vintageness - with some of the Jenni  Bowlin designers, and there are Jenni Bowlin goodies up to win.

For my page I used an old photo (which I guess is a little vintage - tho I don't feel too old :)), some old dictionary page and a couple of mother of pearl buttons from my grandmas button collection.  I also used a modern vintage October Afternoon home flash card too.  I really struggled with this page, and this is the 2nd incarnation of it....I actually took the 1st one to pieces as I wanted to use the photo....it just wasn't working.  So this is what I came up with in the end, the papers I used are Crate Papers Pretty Party range, lots of layering stitching of paper and then a glassine envelope and a journal tag behind the photo.  I used a few of the stickers from the range, and also my favourite EK success punch for the tabs at the bottom and top.  Some flicks of a really lemony yellow glimmer mist to  the corners was my final touch.
